The Town is currently investigating a possible water leak within the water system. Further assessment and repairs are scheduled to continue tomorrow morning.

At this time water service remains in place. However as a precaution, residents may wish to fill a supply of water for household use in the event of temporary pressure fluctuations during the investigation.

Additional updates will be provided if required. The Town appreciates residents’ patience and cooperation.

The Boil Advisory has been lifted as of December 16, 2025.

The Committee in Council meeting scheduled for Monday, December 15 has been postponed to Friday, December 19 at 12:30 pm.

The Town of Trinity is pleased to share that our community’s fire insurance grading has improved following a recent review by the Fire Underwriters Survey. These grades are used by insurance companies across Canada when assessing residential and commercial properties.

Trinity’s updated grades:

• Public Fire Protection Classification (PFPC): Improved from 10 to 9
This grade relates to commercial and multi-unit properties. An improvement shows increased recognition of the fire department’s overall capability and readiness.

• Dwelling Protection Grade (DPG): Improved from 5 to 4
This grade applies to single-family residential properties. A better grade may help some homeowners receive more favourable insurance considerations, depending on each insurer’s policies.

These improvements reflect the ongoing work and commitment of the Trinity and Area Fire Department. Maintaining and improving these grades over time involves many factors including training, equipment, water supply infrastructure, and overall community preparedness.

The Town will continue working with the Trinity and Area Fire Department to support strong public safety and reliable emergency response for residents and visitors.

The Town of Trinity has adopted a municipal by-law - the Tourist Accommodation Tax By-Law - establishing a 3% tax on short-term accommodations within the Town. The tax applies to all overnight stays of 30 days or less and will increase to 4% on January 1, 2027.

Revenue from this tax will support tourism development, community infrastructure, and initiatives that enhance Trinity as a visitor destination.

Accommodation operators are required to:

• Collect the 3% tax from guests beginning January 1, 2026

• Display the tax as a separate line item on invoices or receipts

• Remit collected taxes to the Town quarterly

A remittance form and additional information will be provided to operators in December.

At the November 2025 Council meeting, the Town of Trinity approved the official Public Works Technician Job Description. Click here for full description.

This position is responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of the Town’s water and wastewater systems, roads, parks, and public buildings. The role reflects compliance with the Town’s Permit to Operate, Workplace NL standards, and overall municipal operational needs.

The Town is now accepting applications for this position.

Pay rate: $21.00–$24.00 per hour, based on qualifications and experience.

The Town of Trinity has issued a precautionary Boil Water Advisory after identifying a minor mechanical issue in the water system earlier today. The issue was located and temporarily repaired right away.

While water quality readings have remained normal, the Town is taking this proactive step out of an abundance of caution until permanent repairs are completed.

Residents are asked to boil water for at least one minute before using it for drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth.

We appreciate everyone’s understanding as we take responsible measures to ensure the continued safety of our water system.

Tender Reissue Notice

The Town of Trinity is inviting bids for Snow Clearing and Salt & Sand Application Services for the 2025–2026 winter season (November 17, 2025 to May 10, 2026).

This is a reissue of the previous tender, revised to reflect updated requirements.
Interested contractors must submit one comprehensive tender covering both services, with separate costs for each component.

The Town of Trinity wishes to reassure residents and property owners that the municipal water and sewer system continues to operate safely and in full compliance with the Town’s Permit to Operate.

The Town has been in regular contact with Service NL, the Department of Municipal and Provincial Affairs, and the Department of Environment and Climate Change – Water Resources Management Division. Recruitment for a certified operator is currently underway, and the Town is following the proper process to ensure all provincial requirements are met.

In the meantime, interim daily monitoring and reporting measures remain in place to ensure continued safety and service. There is no risk to public health or system operation. 

We appreciate the community’s understanding and confidence as the Town continues to manage this process in accordance with provincial standards.

Voters in the upcoming Provincial Election on Tuesday, October 14 are reminded that polling booths will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

For residents of Trinity and Lockston, please note that the polling booth has been moved from the Town Hall to the Trinity Fire Hall.

For Goose Cove residents, voting will take place at the Dunfield Hall, as in past elections.
